About Me

My name is Amy and I grew up in Alaska as the oldest of 6 kids. I always thought I would stay in Alaska and teach “happily ever after” after getting my degree in elementary education. Life had other plans.

I met my husband in Utah while attending Utah Valley University. We married in 2006 and, after finishing our respective degrees, we have stayed in Utah since that is where the jobs have been for us. I have taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. I also worked for 10 years with at-risk youth at a residential treatment center. One day I plan on getting a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Jeremy and I have three kiddos: two girls and one boy. They are truly delightful. Not only do I love my kids but, I genuinely LIKE my kids. They are all a blast to hang out with. When they’re not fighting. 😉 I love musicals and can find a song to go with just about anything. I enjoy playing piano and singing. I love playing games with my family.

I am always up for new experiences. Although Alaska is in my soul (I will ALWAYS be an Alaskan Girl), I believe the world is a cool place with so much to experience. I believe in making friends and getting to know people wherever I go. I love the idea of creating a ‘Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood’ anywhere I am at. My life philosophy is: “There are no strangers here; only friends you haven’t met yet.” - William Butler Yeats

In 2023 we felt prompted to move. So, we got our house ready and put it on the market. My husband served a religious mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Madagascar from 2000-2002 and we’ve always wanted to go back and visit that area. We own our own software company so we have the unique opportunity to live anywhere in the world. Through some amazing spiritual promptings and experiences we decided that the time was right for our family to move overseas. We are moving to Mauritius! This stunning island country is in the Indian Ocean just east of Madagascar.

We cannot wait to experience a new culture, meet new people, share our faith, and learn and grow as a family!
